Back at Anfield two weeks later, Gary McAllister’s first-half penalty saw Liverpool through to the final with a narrow 1-0 victory. Barcelona, fielding a young Pepe Reina in goal due to injuries, had chances of their own, but the Reds held firm despite an agonising finale. They famously went on to beat Alaves 5-4 and lift the trophy.

Barca in that season wasn't top club. Petit is 30 YO. Cocu 30YO. Overmars is 27 but he has so many injures to this time of his career. Puyol played on flank, he never wasnt lateral he is central back, etc.
