(6 Oct 2017) Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta on Friday repeated his call for calm amid the tension over Catalonia’s independence bid, saying everyone should be able to “live with tranquillity”.
Iniesta made the comments at a news conference after becoming the first player to sign a lifetime contract with Barcelona, a deal which will keep him playing for the club for as long as he remains fit.
Authorities said nearly 900 civilians and about 430 police officers were injured across the autonomous northeastern region on Sunday during the independence referendum, which the Spanish government said was unconstitutional.
