It's not mainly about the sheet, cause of his two feet he can move across the pitch, draw some defenders, he gives confidence in mid and and attack, just like Ramos does in defence, and if it's against a team like Barca, you need it. Last year I think he trolled Pique like he was nothing. It doesn't mean real would've won, but the match could've had a hope of some return, now in his place it's marcelo doing his work, which leaves more gap. Coach was bad too.

The biggest issue with Real Madrid I see is that the first big name to go was Ronaldo (maybe after Pepe). If they replaced example Modric and Benzema before Ronaldo left then maybe it could have worked. (Not saying Modric is a bad player…he is still in the top three midfielders of the world but he is 32/33.)

ronaldo always plays by himself, all his lost against barca was because barca had top players and ronaldo had to play them alone.
